What could have become one of the biggest terrorist acts of the year in the Colombian Pacific was thwarted by troops of Colombian National Army's Hercules Task Force, after the finding of more than 700 explosives.
Within the framework of the Strategic Campaign Plan Ayacucho Plus 2026, troops of the Hercules Task Force of Colombian National Army found and destroyed in controlled conditions a gigantic illicit hideout of explosives in the municipality of Tumaco, department of Nariño, considered the largest find of this year.
According to military intelligence information, the elements would belong to the Residual Organized Armed Group (GAO-r) National Coordinator of the Bolivarian Army, Oliver Sinisterra structure, and would be destined to carry out terrorist acts in the Nariño in the Pacific region.
During the operation, 710 60-millimeter-caliber improvised explosive devices, 10 100-kilo gas cylinders, five gallons of pentolite, 55 PVC pipes for the manufacture of anti-personnel mines and 35 metal pipes packed with explosives were destroyed in controlled conditions.
This important result of the military operation significantly affects the resources of this illegal armed structure, by preventing this element from being used for the manufacture and use of improvised explosive devices, anti-personnel mines and other explosive elements against the inhabitants, the Military Forces and the strategic constructions of the State. Through this operation, the life and integrity of hundreds of families of the Pacific region of the department pf Nariño are protected.
Colombian National Army invites citizens to report in a timely manner on the activity of suspicious persons or elements in their communities, through the toll-free 107 Anti-Terrorism lines of Colombian National Army and 147 of the Military Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group), in order to facilitate an immediate reaction of the authorities.
