The Fifteenth Brigade reported the dismantling of another coca paste base production laboratory and the finding of solid precursors, property of the organized armed groups that commit crimes in the department.
The Costa de Oro village, in the municipality of Carmen del Darién, department of Chocó, was the area where the recognition, finding and subsequent destruction of a laboratory used for the production of coca base paste was carried out by troops of the Rainforest Battalion No. 54 Bajo Atrato.
During this operation, approximately 200 kilograms of chopped coca leaf, 400 gallons of coca base paste in process, 210 gallons of DIESEL, 95 gallons of gasoline and 45 gallons of ammonia were found by troops and rendered useless, directly hitting the illicit and criminal activities of the Carlos Vásquez substructure of the organized armed group, GAO, Clan del Golfo, with an economic loss estimated at 170 million pesos.
In the same way, as part of the military operation, a rudimentary wooden structure, eight metal barrels, 24 plastic barrels of different resources, five plastic decanters, a wooden drain, a scythe and a rudimentary press, elements used for the production of the drug, were found by troops and subsequently destroyed.
Similarly, within the framework of operations carried out by troops of the same battalion, in the municipality of Vigía del Fuerte, it was possible to find 900 sacks of cement, equivalent to 45 tons, which would presumably be destined for the production of coca base paste. These supplies were put into custody of the authority, in accordance with the established procedures.
