During the operation, a low-profile boat and a go fast type boat were found by troops that were allegedly used to transport narcotics to international waters.
The operation managed to affect a logistics center used by transnational drug trafficking structures in the extreme north of the country.
Within the framework of joint operations against drug trafficking in the Colombian Caribbean, the Colombian Navy and the Colombian Aerospace Force, in coordination with units of the Anti–Narcotics Directorate of the National Police - DIRAN-, reported affect a gravitational logistics center at the service of a transnational drug trafficking organization that commits crimes in the north of the country.
Thanks to information that managed to find an area used by this criminal structure in the Wawali sector, municipality of Uribia, units of the Air Combat Command No. 3 and the Caribbean Naval Force, who carried out operations to verify the information and affect the logistical resources of this illegal organization.
During the operation, a low-profile boat of approximately 52 feet in length was found, equipped with five outboard motors of 300 horsepower, each, as well as a go fast type boat of 42 feet in length with four motors of 300 horsepower. According to preliminary investigations, these ships would be used to transport drug shipments to international shipping routes used by transnational crime organizations.
In the same way, 131 cartridges of different calibers, four communication radios, seven satellite radios, two Starlink antennas, two GPS equipment, four cell phones and three ballistic vests were seized, elements that were allegedly used to support the logistical, coordination and communications activities of this drug trafficking structure.
Low-profile boats are considered one of the main means used by drug trafficking organizations to evade the operations of the authorities and transport large shipments of illicit substances to international markets. In addition, the confiscation of satellite communication equipment, navigation and logistical elements represents a significant loss to the mobility, coordination and maintenance resources of these criminal networks.
