Through this result, the Naval Institution prevented the entry of more than 10 million dollars into the finances of drug trafficking organizations.
Thanks to information provided by the Amazonas Information Fusion Center and the combined work conducted by the Amazon Naval Force of the Colombian Navy and the Command of the military Operation of the Amazon of Peru, Operation Bagre was carried out, which led to the finding of more than two tons of Creepy type marijuana used to strengthen the illicit activities of transnational criminal groups.
Four river control boats and personnel of Special Operations and navy men of the Naval Detachment El Estrecho participated in the area, with the support of the River Boat B.A.P. Marañón of the Peruvian Navy. The units moved to the sector of Puerto Arturo, in the district of Rosa Panduro, department of Putumayo, where the illegal activity was concentrated.
During the operation, several houses were identified on the riverbank occupied by Colombian citizens, allegedly involved in illegal activities. Later, four kilometers from the initial search, the troops found three boats used to transport narcotics, loaded with 2,137 kilograms of marijuana. This material was used to supply the drug trafficking routes that connect Colombia, Peru and Brazil.
Through this result, the entry of more than 10 million dollars into the finances of drug trafficking organizations was prevented and, in the same way, the distribution of more than 360 thousand doses on the streets of the world was prevented. This heavy blow severely hit the logistical and financial capacity of the criminal structures that commit crimes in this border area, weakening their storage systems, river transport and distribution of illicit substances.
The cargo found was taken under strict security protocols to the Naval Station El Estrecho, where the corresponding procedures are carried out with the authorities.
