At a checkpoint it was possible to find and arrest alias Emiro or Elkin, Zone Ringleader of the GAO Clan del Golfo.
During a coordinated operation carried out by the Colombian Navy and the National Police, it was possible to arrest in the municipality of Corozal, Sucre, alias Emiro or Elkin, who would apparently be the zone ringleader of the Manuel José Gaitán substructure of the organized armed group, GAO, Clan del Golfo.
This result occurred due to sustained operations carried out by troops of the Military Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group)y Sucre and the Traffic and Transport Police, who during a checkpoint on the road Corozal – Sincelejo, near the toll Flores, in a procedure for the revision of records, arrested this man, who was traveling on a motorcycle, trying to pass unnoticed, and so evade the operation of the authorities.
Alias Emiro or Elkin had an arrest warrant for the crimes of association to commit crimes for the purposes of murder, microtrafficking and extortion. In the same way, according to valuable information, this individual would have a criminal experience of more than 15 years and would be responsible for coordinating and directing targeted killings, in issues related to drug trafficking and extortion.
This individual would in the same way have under his command 20 members of the GAO Clan del Golfo and would be right hand within this criminal organization, having his consanguinity with alias Daniel, second ringleader of the Manuel José Gaitán substructure. The arrested individual was put into custody of the judicial authorities.
