The operation led to the immobilization of a dredger used for illegal sand extraction and two ships used for this activity.
The Colombian Navy, through the Navy Infantry River Battalion No. 31, together with Colombian National Army, reported the arrested in flagrante six individuals who were carrying out illegal exploitation of mining deposits in the La Bocana del Guayas sector, of Cartagena del Chairá, in the department of Caquetá.
In an operation carried out by the crew of the River Operations Element 31-1, an illegal structure specialized in sand extraction was identified in the middle of the riverbed. Six individuals were arrested at the scene, as well as a dredger used for mining exploitation, a light boat and a rudimentary boat that were used for this illicit activity that seriously damages the natural resources of the Colombian Amazonas region were immobilized.
The arrested and the material were put into custody of the authorities.
