Colombian Navy arrests three alleged members of the GAO “Clan del Golfo del Golfo”, in Bolívar

This criminal substructure had influence in the municipalities of Guarandá (Sucre), Achí, Montecristo and Tiquísio (Bolívar).

 

In joint operations on the Cauca river, the Navy of Colombia and the National Army in coordination with units of the Police Division of Criminal Investigation (SIJIN), of Bolivar, were arrested three individuals known as Dani or Daniel, Chocoano or Ómar and Cano, alleged members of Organised Armed Group, GAO, Clan del Golfo, which had a heavy influence in different areas of the colombian Caribbean, specifically in the departments of Bolívar and Sucre.

 

Alias Dani or Daniel, alleged political ringleader of the substructure Luis Fernando Gutiérrez was in charge of generating the projections of expansion of the substructure in the areas of influence of the municipalities of Achí, Tiquísio, Altos del Rosario and Montecristo (Bolívar).

 

In the same way, alias Chocoano or Ómar, alleged member of the same substructure, would be in charge of coordinating the arrival of individuals from the Urabá region in the departments of Choco and Antioquia, in order to carry out confrontations with members of the GAO ELN and exercise greater controls on their criminal operations.

 

Alías Cano alleged member of the GAO Clan del Golfo, would have conducted eight attacks on the Military Forces, by which this individual would have been put in charge of the management of the armed groups; he is also an explosives expert, instructor of the special forces with high precision. In the same way, he would be responsible to conduct the so called political work with the communities in the villages of Achí, Tiquísio and Montecristo (Bolívar), Guarandá (Sucre).

 

The operation was carried out by the troops of the Navy Infantry River Battalion No.17, attached to the Joint Task Force Marte, troops of the National Army, Bolívar Military Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group) and units of the Criminal Investigation Section of the Police (SIJIN) of Bolívar.

 

At the time of making the arrests, four cell phones, two Motorola radios, a booklet with information on the statutes and disciplinary regime of the Gaitanista Self-Defense Forces of Colombia (AGC) and a sheet where payments were registered were found by troops.

 

These individuals were put into custody of the Criminal Investigation Section (SIJIN) of the  police of Bolívar and they must face charges of illicit use of transmitting or receiving equipment, manufacture, trafficking, carrying or possession of firearms, accessories, parts or ammunition, fraud, qualified theft and association to commit crimes aggravated.
