Colombian Navy arrests three individuals and seizes about a ton of cocaine

Armada de Colombia captura a tres sujetos y decomisa cerca de una tonelada de cocaína

The operation managed to prevent the distribution of more than 2.2 million doses in international markets and strikes the finances of transnational criminal structures.

In the waters of the Nariño South Pacific, the Colombian Navy reported the interception of a go fast type ship, arresting three individuals and seizing approximately one ton of cocaine hydrochloride, within the framework of maritime control and security operations.

The action was carried out by the Pacific Coast Guard Group, in coordination with a surface unit of the Joint and Interagency Task Force of the Southern Command of the United States (JIATFS), who detected a suspicious ship equipped with three outboard motors. The boat was crewed by two Colombian citizens and an Ecuadorian, and was carrying 45 black sacks.

The authorities found 900 rectangular packages with illicit substances. The arrested and the elements were taken to the dock of the Primary Coast Guard Station of Tumaco, where officials of the Technical Investigation Corps (CTI) of the Attorney General's Office conducted the Approved Preliminary Identification Test, confirming 900 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride.

Satellite communication equipment and five barrels containing approximately 275 gallons of fuel were in the same way seized in the procedure. The alkaloid and the arrested were put into custody of the Attorney General's Office for their respective prosecution process.
