With the aim of mitigating the difficult situation faced by the victims of the island of San Andrés and Providencia, as a result of the devastating Hurricane IOTA, the Naval School of Non-Commissioned Officers ARC Barranquilla collected 250 tons of humanitarian aid with the support of the Barranquilla community.
During the collection activity, carried out for a week at the Coliseo Veranillo of the Navy of Colombia and led by the Naval Reserve of Barranquilla, mats, blankets, lanterns, batteries, canned and non-perishable food, water, caps, clothing and shoes were received.
The humanitarian aid collected in the capital city of the department of Atlantico, were given by the Naval Reserve of Barranquilla to the Red Cross verified by the District Mayor, Jaime Pumarejo, the Director of Risk Management Division and Director of the Naval School of non-commissioned officers ARC Barranquila, in order to be transported to the island of San Andrés and Providencia.
In this way, the Navy of Colombia through the Naval School of non-commissioned officers together with the inhabitants of Barranquilla joins the work of recovery in the Archipelago of San Andrés, Providencia and Santa Catalina to overcome the humanitarian emergency caused by the hurricane Iota.
