The Colombian Navy, through the Training Center for Peace Operations - Cencopaz, closed the Course on "Disarmament, Demobilization and Reintegration" - DDR – of the UN, number 007, in which 8 students completed the instruction.

The closing ceremony was chaired by Brigadier General of the Navy Infantry, Guillermo Arturo Castellanos Ojeda, Commander of the Navy Infantry Training Base, who was accompanied by Lieutenant Colonel of the Navy Infantry, Cristian Garzón Estrada, director of the Training Center for Peace Operations, and the Official and NCO officers, who serve as instructors in this training center.

The objective of the course, which had an intensity of 78 hours, is to train the Colombian Military Forces Officers, so that they can participate as Military Observers, within the Disarmament, Demobilization and Reintegration processes under the guidelines established by the Organization of the United Nations, UN, contributing to security and stability in Post-conflict environments, leading to support peace processes that address the security issues that arise when ex-combatants are in the process of adapting to civilian life.

During the ceremony, captain of the Navy Infantry, Albert Jeins Ortega Ortega, was awarded since he occupied first place among his teammates, standing out for his excellent grades, in the different activities that were scheduled during the course.

The Colombian Navy continues to reaffirm its commitment to ongoing training, in order to guarantee the strengthening and consolidation of security and peace.
