So far in 2024, drinking water has been supplied to several villages in the department of Sucre and Córdoba, providing more than 220,000 liters of water.
In recent weeks, the Colombian Navy has supported different communities in the department of Sucre and Córdoba with the supply of drinking water, this as part of a drought mitigation plan that takes place in the region as a result of the effects of the El Niño phenomenon.
The Naval Institution reached the subregion of the Montes de María, the Sabana sucreña, the Gulf of Morrosquillo and the Bajo Sinú, in the villages of Morroa, Colosó, Buenavista, Sincé, Ovejas, San Antonio de Palmitos of the department of Sucre and the municipality of Lorica of the department of Córdoba, in order to benefit more than 1,400 families who lacked water to meet their basic needs.
It is a continuous operation that is carried out taking into account the difficulties that the shortage of water and high temperatures brought to the region, for which the Navy Infantry Brigade N. 1 has directed its dual, logistical and operational resources, in order to provide more than 220 thousand liters of the vital liquid to the communities that need it most.
