Colombian Navy distributes humanitarian aid in Leticia, Amazonas

cogfm-armada-ayuda-humanitaria-operacion-san-roque-leticia-amazonas-04.jpg

Units of the Amazon Coast Guard Command of the Colombian Navy of the Southern Naval Force, distributed 800 food baskets and 200 biosecurity kits to Leticia, capital city of the department of Amazonas. This, as part of the commitment of the naval institution with assistance to the civil authority and humanitarian aid to the inhabitants.

Thanks to the coordinated work conducted by the Colombian Navy, the Colombian Air Force, the civil authorities of the Amazonas and Movistar company, it was possible to distribute this material with which it is expected to benefit approximately 4,000 inhabitants of the Amazon.

These activities, product of the Unified Operation of the State and coordination with the public and private sectors, have led to mitigate the economic and social impact caused by COVID19 on isolated and vulnerable inhabitants of the Colombian Amazon.

The Southern Naval Force has provided its resources and human talent to the service of assistance to the civil authority and humanitarian aid to the inhabitants. In the same way it continues to carry out operations against the factors of instability that harm the colombian Amazon, denying the river spaces of this region of the country to illegal activities such as drug trafficking, smuggling and illegal mining.
