Units of the Colombian Navy, of the Southern Naval Force, transported and distributed essential items, presents and food baskets, to the La Samaritana indigenous community, belonging to the Murui Muina ethnic group, in a rural area of the municipality of Puerto Leguizamo, in Putumayo.

Thanks to the coordinated work with the indigenous authorities of Putumayo, the Telefónica Movistar company and the Professional Officers of the Naval Reserve, it was possible to benefit a total of 250 members of this indigenous community with the distribution of items such as face masks, gel alcohol, presents for minors, in addition to food baskets and toiletries.

These activities, as a result of the Unified State action and in coordination with the public and private sectors, have led to mitigating the economic and social impact caused by COVID-19 on the isolated and vulnerable inhabitants of the Colombian Amazonas.

The Southern Naval Force has its river and land Units at the service of assistance to the civil authority and humanitarian aid to the inhabitants. In the same way, it continues to carry out operations against the instability factors that harm the Colombian Amazonas region, denying the river areas of this region of the country to illegal activities such as drug trafficking, contraband and illegal mining.
