Colombian Navy evacuates minors after medical emergency

Thanks to the rapid reaction of a Naval Air Unit of the Colombian Navy, a minor was evacuated, who had a skull-brain trauma after suffering a fall. The young man was evacuated from Providencia Island to San Andrés accompanied by relatives.

This humanitarian assistance operation was carried out after the call of the local hospital, which informed the Naval Institution about the medical situation with the minor, who required specialized and priority medical assistance.

Immediately the Specific Command of San Andrés deployed a Naval Aviation Helicopter, which led to the transfer of the minor with his mother to San Andrés Islas, where he was received by a medical team and then taken in an ambulance to the Clarence Lynd Newball Memorial hospital to receive the required medical assistance.

The Colombian Navy reaffirms its commitment to safeguard the lives of the inhabitants of the Archipelago department, where there are limitations on communication roads and access to have health services, having its maritime and air Resources for emergency care and humanitarian assistance.
