Forest fire in the sector of Isla Morro, in Santa Marta, is under control.

The Colombian Navy, working together with the General Maritime Directorate-DIMAR -, Firefighters of Santa Marta, Puerto Drummond Ltda and tugs, had their resources to activate the mutual aid plan, with the objective of providing support and timely control of the emergency of the forest fire in Isla Morro.

The fire that started in the afternoon lasted for four hours due to heavy winds and high temperatures in the area.

Thanks to the timely response of the emergency team of the Primary Coast Guard Station of Santa Marta and the joint work with the State and private institutions of the city, it was possible to control this fire and thus preventing even greater damages to the fauna and flora of that area. The causes of this emergency are related to the high temperatures at this time of year in Santa Marta.
