With this result, the Caribbean Naval Force reaches 17.9 tons of cocaine and half a ton of marijuana found in 2022.
In development of a joint operation with the National Army and coordinated with the Technical Body of Research -CTI, the Navy of Colombia reported the finding of 498 kilograms of marijuana and 102 kg of cocaine in the department of Magdalena, preventing the entry of more than USD$ 6.6 million to the drug trafficking organizations that commit crimes in the Colombian Caribbean, as well as the distribution of over 339 billion doses of illicit drugs worldwide.
This overwhelming result occurred when units of the Coast Guard Station of Barranquilla in coordination with troops of the National Army and units of the CTI (Technical Investigations Corps) of the Prosecutor's Office, found an illegal hiding place in an area near the Ca帽o del Torno in Sitio Nuevo, in the department of Magdalena.
Once the collection center was found, the place was reviewed with a canine of the Barranquilla Coast Guard Station, finding some sacks and barrels of fuel with 507 rectangular packages inside.
The material was transported to the facilities of the Barranquilla Coast Guard Station where CTI (Technical Investigations Corps) units conducted the Preliminary Identification Test, determining that the substances contained in the packages corresponded to 498.2 kilograms of marijuana and 102.8 kilograms of cocaine. The illegal merchandise was put into custody of the Attorney General's Office.
With this finding, the Naval Force of the Caribbean has reached 17.9 tons of cocaine and 552 kilograms of marijuana, found in national and international operations in 2022, thanks to the permanent operation against drug traffickers who commit crimes in this region of the country; so troops have hit the criminal operations by the loss of approximately 609 million dollars.
