Colombian Navy finds semi-submarine in Timbiquí, in the department of Cauca

cogfm-arc-apoyo-humanitario_2.jpg

During the year, the Pacific Naval Force has found 26 semi-submarines.

The Colombian Navy, through Units of the Pacific Naval Force, during a search and control operation, achieved the discovery of a semi-submarine that was hidden in a rudimentary shipyard, in the sector known as Camarones, in the town of Saija of the municipality of Timbiquí, in the department of Cauca.

Thanks to naval intelligence information, Troops of the Navy Fluvial Battalion No.42, of the Naval Force of the Pacific, undertook a military search and control area operation that resulted in the discovery of the semi submarine.

The rudimentary shipyard where the semi-submarine was being built was guarded by armed individuals, who when noticing the presence of the troops escaped the place. The device had 25% progress of construction, it was 17 meters long, 2.6 meters wide and 1.90 meters high and had a capacity to transport six or eight tons of cocaine hydrochloride.

During the operation there were no captures. In the same way, liquid precursors and abundant material for the construction of this type of devices was found by troops. Once the judicial proceedings took place, the material was destroyed under controlled conditions in the area.
