This year, the Pacific Naval Force has managed to neutralize 48 members of the Organized Armed Group, GAO, Clan del Golfo on Colombia's Pacific coast.
In the rural area of Bahía Solano, Department of Chocó, the Colombian Navy is carrying out a heavy operation against the GAO Clan del Golfo, to arrest alias Walter, the main ringleader of the Pacific Substructure of this Organized Armed Group, who has an arrest warrant for the crime of association to commit crimes.
Alias Walter has a criminal experience of more than four years in the service of the GAO Clan del Golfo and is accused of being the alleged determiner of targeted killings, to control the drug trade routes, and coordinate attacks against the Military Forces in the Pacific coast of the department of Choco; in the same way, he is accused of carrying out extortion and recruiting illegally children, girls and adolescents of indigenous communities and afro-descendants in the region to exploit them, causing anxiety, fear and confinement, in above-mentioned communities.
As a result, it was possible to find war material and military accessories, including a rifle, a pistol, four magazines, 269 cartridges of different calibers, two rudimentary explosives, communication equipment, a computer, military accessory material such as backpacks, boots and elements for the exclusive use of the Military Forces, among other items.
During these operations, an armed confrontation took place in which the death of one of the members of this organized armed group occurred. The material and the body of the member of the organized armed group were taken to the municipality of Bahía Solano and given to the authorities.
