Units of the Colombian Navy, during a joint and coordinated operation with Colombian National Army and the Attorney General's Office, arrested four people and found machinery used for the illicit extraction of mining deposits in the department of Bolívar.

The operation was conducted by troops of the Navy Infantry River Battalion No.17 of the Colombian Navy, soldiers of Colombian National Army and officials of the Technical Research Corps - CTI (Technical Investigations Corps); who arrived at the village of Guarigua, on the Magdalena River, in the municipality of San Pablo - Bolivar.

The four individuals arrested in flagrante delicto were caught while carrying out illegal mining activities, causing serious damage to the environment. In the place, yellow machinery, a dump truck, a sorter, a shredder, a motor pump and four engines were seized, which allegedly belonged to the Organized Armed Group, GAO, Clan del Golfo and they used to generate illegal income to obtain weapons and pay salaries in this criminal organization.

The personnel and material were put into custody of the authorities in the municipality of San Pablo - Bolívar, for the crime of illegal exploitation of mining deposits, damage to natural resources and environmental pollution.
