The activity was supported by public, private and non-profit organizations.
After four hours of travel and under difficult terrain conditions, troops reached the municipality of El Tesoro, a rural area of the municipality of Ovejas, Sucre, to carry out a new health activity for the benefit of the community.
The activity in which medical services were provided free of charge, was led by Navy Battalion No.14, and in the same way had the accompaniment of Military Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group) Sucre, who raised awareness in the inhabitants on the importance of the culture of denunciation to prevent crimes that attack personal freedom.
On this occasion, 250 people gathered in the church of la hamlet, to be assisted in different medical specialties, including Dentistry, Optometry, Pediatrics, Psychology, Social Work, Nursing and General Medicine.
Marine Battalion No.14 distributed food baskets and 1,000 kilograms of Bienestarina (food supplement) to children under 10 years of age, while non-profit organizations distributed glasses under prescription.
The children enjoyed recreational activities, while troops of the Military Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group) of Sucre walked by the sectors of the hamlet to spread the campaign: I don't Pay, I Denounce, introducing the hotlines where people can report problems of extortion and kidnapping.
The Colombian Navy will continue to carry out this type of inter-institutional initiatives that seek to bring the Unified operation of the State to the inhabitants of difficult access, thus contributing to the well-being of the communities and the maintenance of territorial consolidation.
