The 13 students of the Navy Infantry Training School became the pioneers in this specialty, consolidating a precedent in training and leadership at the Institution.
The students are part of the first female professional training course for Third Corporals of the Navy Infantry Corps of the Colombian Navy.
The Colombian Navy reached a historic milestone in strengthening leadership and equity within its ranks, by awarding for the first time the distinction of Female Navy Infantry Martial Arts Instructors to 13 students of the Navy Infantry Training School - ESFIM, who successfully completed this demanding process of high physical, mental and doctrinal preparation led by the Amphibious Instruction and Training Center – CIEAN.
25 students, including the 13 female ones, received the badge that accredits them as instructors in close combat and personal defense, essential resources to face situations of the military operation where the use of firearms is not possible or need. During five weeks of intensive training, the young people strengthened their physical, tactical and doctrinal preparation, in addition to obtaining skills to plan and conduct training in the different units of the Colombian Navy.
In the same way, the students improved their response capacity in hand-to-hand combat, strengthened their physical endurance, agility and cardiovascular capacity, in addition, the course covers competences in leadership, instruction skills in military training. In the same way, the implementation of the principles of respect and protection of Human Rights and the norms of International Humanitarian Law, fundamental pillars in the framework of military operations, was reinforced.
This achievement not only strengthens the preparation of the military operation of the Navy Infantry, but represents a significant step in the consolidation of a modern and highly trained Colombian Navy, in which men and women are prepared with the highest standards to contribute to the protection of national interests, the defense of national sovereignty and the security of all Colombians.
During the protocol ceremony, the Military Physical Trainers badge was in the same way granted to 22 ESFIM students who took part in Course No. 019, strengthening institutional resources in the comprehensive training of human talent.
The military ceremony was presided over by Navy Brigadier General Nelson Fernández Rojas, Commander of the Navy Infantry Training Base, accompanied by Navy Colonel Miguel Ángel Vides Vergara, Director of the Navy Infantry Training School.
