After an armed confrontation with the criminals who were in the place, it was possible the neutralization of two individuals, the arrest of three others and the finding of war material and explosives, among others.
During 2021 and 2022, the Colombian Navy has arrested 78 individuals of this criminal organization, five minors have in the same way been recovered and troops have also obtained the voluntary surrender to justice of 21 individuals in the Colombian Pacific coast.
In the course of a naval operation against the Baudó substructure of the Organized Armed Group, GAO, Clan del Golfo, carried out by Units of the Colombian Navy with officials of the Attorney General's Office, a camp of alias Firulais, ringleader of the GAO Clan del Golfo, was found in which it was possible to arrest three alleged members of this gang and the finding of war material, military accessories, explosives and narcotic substances.
The operation was carried out in a rural area of the municipality of Arusí, municipality of Nuquí (Department of Chocó), where, within the framework of the permanent work of the Military Forces to ensure the safety of its inhabitants, a camp area belonging to this criminal organization was detected and an armed confrontation took place. The result of the combat was the neutralization of two individuals, members of this illegal structure who died in military operations.
During the inspection of the camp, three assault rifles, more than 2,200 units of ammunition of different calibers, six improvised explosive devices, military accessory material such as backpacks and vests and 86 rectangular packages that apparently contain cocaine hydrochloride were found by troops. This military operation to bring the members of this criminal organization to justice is ongoing.
The Baudó substructure of the GAO Clan del Golfo, under the criminal control of alias Firulais is the main factor of activities related to cocaine and marijuana trafficking in this region of the country, they are in the same way responsible for causing anxiety and fear in the inhabitants of this area and for carrying out criminal operations that attack the Human rights of its inhabitants and the ethnic communities that inhabit the sector. In the same way, they are the main responsible for illegally recruiting and use of children, young people and adolescents who live on the Choco coasts and for coordinating attacks against the Military Forces.
The arrested individuals were put into custody of the authorities, as well as the war material and military accessories, the explosives found and the 86 packages of narcotic substances. The bodies of the two individuals killed in military operations were taken to the city of Quibdó, Department of Chocó, and put into custody of legal medicine.
