The Colombian Navy provided humanitarian transport in one of its helicopters to a minor and her premature baby of the Wounaan ethnic group, belonging to the people of Union Balsalito, in the Litoral San Juan – department of Chocó, who were in a delicate state of health after labor.

Troops stationed at the Navy Infantry post of Docordó - department of Chocó, were warned by the people about the health situation in which a 15-year-old girl was, who had given birth to a baby with only six months of gestation in the medical center of that municipality and urgently required specialized medical assistance.

Immediately, a Navy Infantry River Unit was deployed and transported the minor, along with her newborn daughter and an attendant, to the facilities of the Colombian Navy in Docordó, where an Institution helicopter manned with medical and assistance personnel of the Naval Health, was waiting to evacuate them to Buenaventura.

Upon arrival in the port city, an ambulance of the Naval Institution received the mother, the baby and her attendant and transported them to a District hospital, where they are currently receiving the medical assistance recovering satisfactorily.
