Given the alleged appearance of armed men, the Colombian Navy, through the Caribbean Naval Force, continues to consolidate its work in rural and urban areas of the department of Sucre to guarantee the minimum conditions of security and tranquility of its inhabitants.

Such is the case of the municipality of Chalán, in this sector, troops of the Navy Infantry Battalion No.14, attached to Navy Brigade No.1, in coordination with units of the National Police, carry out search operations and checkpoints to prevent illegal groups from intimidating civilians and damaging the normal development of their economic and cultural activities.

Given the alleged appearance of armed men and intimidating pamphlets in which they apparently force the inhabitants of the municipality to remain in their houses, Mayor Ivone Del Carmen Fernández Gutiérrez, on Tuesday morning summoned a virtual extraordinary council in which civil and military authorities analyzed the situation of law and order.

During the meeting, the local governor, along with representatives of the Colombian Navy, the National Police, the People's Representative for human rights and the Inspector's Office, analyzed the situation and generated a series of commitments for the maintenance of law and order.

The Colombian Navy reiterated the sustained work of its troops in order to protect the inhabitants and guarantee minimum security conditions, counteracting the criminal operations of the different illegal groups that seek to alter the tranquility in the region.
