Colombian Navy recovered two Ecuadorian plate trucks that had been stolen

Armada de Colombia recuperó dos camiones de placa ecuatoriana que habían sido hurtados

In ground operations focused on the protection and security of national roads, the Colombian Navy, jointly with Colombian National Army and coordinated with the National Police, recovered two Ecuadorian trucks that apparently had been stolen from a private parking lot in the municipality of Tumaco – department of Nariño.

These trucks, in previous months had been found by the Military Forces, when some individuals planned to transport contraband merchandise in them, from Ecuador to Colombia, for which they were in the custody of the Directorate of National Taxes and Customs – DIAN of Tumaco.

The Navy Infantry troops were alerted on the theft, so they immediately deployed their ground units on the road that leads from the municipality of Tumaco to Pasto – in the department of Nariño.

After an effective pursuit by the military personnel of the Navy Infantry River Battalion No.40, the Naval Institution found the two stolen vehicles and made the arrest of the drivers, who planned to return the trucks to Ecuador.

The 37- and 40-year-old men, originally from the neighboring country, were arrested for the alleged crime of theft, referred to in Article No. 239 of the Colombian penal Code.

The arrested personnel and the vehicles were put into custody of the authorities.
