The permanent maritime control and surveillance of the Colombian Navy units managed to safeguard human life at sea from tourists.
A 13-year-old minor is among those rescued.
The boat that underwent the emergency had the name Berta and did not have any type of registration by the Port Authority.
On the afternoon, this Sunday, in the sector known as Bocas de Atrato in the department of Antioquia, a crew member of the Amphibious Landing Ship ARC Golfo de Urabá was in charge of alerting about an emergency at sea.
10 people were in imminent danger of drowning, who had fallen into the sea, after the boat in which they were traveling sank apparently by a water inlet that could not be controlled.
A search and rescue operation was immediately launched and the ship's crew saved the lives of seven men and three women, including a child under 13 years old, who received first aid and hydration.
Subsequently, contact was established with the Coast Guard Station of Urabá, which deployed a Rapid Reaction Unit to the area, who verified that there were no more people in the water. When they saw the situation, they approached the ship to transfer the rescued people to a safe dock where they were awaited by an ambulance.
