With the support of the community, the Colombian Navy managed to rescue 11 people who shipwrecked in the waters of the Magdalena River over the municipality of Barrancabermeja in the Department of Santander.

The incident in which two people unfortunately lost their lives was reported six kilometers of the main pier of the municipality of Barrancabermeja. There 13 people were enjoying a ride on a boat, where apparently the engines had mechanical failures being adrift. According to the versions of those rescued, the heavy currents and the waves produced by other boats, caused the overturning.

Following timely notice of the community, immediately river units of the Navy Battalion No.17, moved to the area to provide emergency support.

During the search and rescue operation, the Colombian Navy crew, with the support of the community, saves the lives of 11 tourists who were given first aid. The troops in the same way rescued two bodies of an adult and a minor who unfortunately lost their lives; they were part of the crew of the boat.

Les 11 secourus ont été emmenés dans un centre de santé de la municipalité de Barrancabermeja pour vérifier leur état de santé, tandis que les deux corps ont été remis aux membres du Corps d'enquête technique pour procéder à leur identification.
