Coast Guard units of the Colombian Navy rescued 19 people, who were adrift in the waters of the Orinoco River, near Puerto Carreño – Vichada, when the river transport ship in which they were traveling on the Puerto Carreño – Casuarito route, presented failures in its main engine.
The search and rescue operation began as the people of navigators contacted the Coast Guard emergency line 146, alerting about the situation. A Rapid Reaction Unit - URR of the Coast Guard Station of Puerto Carreño was immediately deployed to the area, which was carrying out river patrol work near the sector.
Upon arriving at the emergency site, the Colombian sailors proceeded to rescue the 19 crew members, checking their health status. Later, the staff was taken along with the towed boat to the main dock of Puerto Carreño.
