A man, 67 years old, of Italian origin, was rescued by Coast Guard units of San Andrés and Providencia, moments when the sailboat in which he was, in the Los Almendros sector, was dragged by heavy winds to the sea.

Thanks to the alert call of the community, a Coast Guard Rapid Reaction Unit was sent, which in the midst of high risk conditions for the crew, arrived in a timely manner at the place of the emergency, managing to save the life of the elderly.

The men of the Colombian Navy highly trained to safeguard life in risky conditions, transported the foreign citizen to the safe dock, to subsequently receive priority medical assistance.
