This operation prevented the circulation and consumption of 144,586 doses of marijuana, as well as the entry of 696,800 dollars towards the finances of organized armed groups that commit crimes in the Colombian Pacific.

As part of the Colombian Navy operation against drug trafficking in the Colombian Pacific, a shipment of 1,112 packages of marijuana was found when it was being transported by several individuals aboard a ship in the central Pacific.

According to intelligence information, this illegal substance would have as destination the coasts of Panama where it would be trafficked for 696,800 dollars, which in Colombian currency represents a cost greater than 2,470 million pesos, preventing with its finding the entry of this money in the organized with criminal armed groups with interference in the Pacific region.

This important result was reported during a sea control operation conducted by rapid reaction units of the Coast Guard Station of Tumaco and a ship of the Pacific surface Flotilla, supported by the Colombian Air Force, in which a ship manned by four men was detected late at night. Noticing the work of the authority, the individuals ignored the calls, so the maritime interception procedure was started. After several minutes of chase the boat was stopped.

During the search, Coast Guard members found several bags hidden in a double bottom, where packages of different sizes were packed with physical characteristics similar to narcotic substances.

Once in Port, Judicial police officers conducted the approved preliminary identification test that resulted positive for 871 kilograms of marijuana. The four individuals were arrested and put into custody of the authorities; they must face charges for the crime of trafficking, manufacture or carrying of narcotic drugs.

With this finding, the Colombian navy prevented the circulation of 144,586 doses of marijuana, ratifying its commitment in the frontal fight against the trafficking of illicit drugs in the region, a transnational problem that hits public health and safety. In the same way, the Naval institution invites the community to continue denouncing any illegal or suspicious activity on the free lines 146 and 147 available 24 hours a day.
