Colombian Navy seizes 1.4 tons of cocaine hydrochloride in the Colombian Pacific

Armada de Colombia incauta 1,4 toneladas de clorhidrato de cocaína en el Pacífico colombiano

- More than 15 million dollars stopped entering the drug trafficking finances.

In the framework of maritime control and security operations, the Colombian Navy reports the seizure of 1,440 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride in the waters of the central Pacific.

The operation took place when a Surface Unit of the Pacific Naval Force detected, through its radars, one that was traveling suspiciously. The boat was crewed by two Ecuadorian citizens and a Colombian.

Immediately, a Rapid Reaction Unit of the Buenaventura Coast Guard Station was deployed, which intercepted the ship. During the procedure, 52 sacks and two packets were found by troops containing 1,442 packages with characteristics similar to illicit substances, in addition to navigation, communication and fuel equipment.

During the operation, and due to the adverse weather conditions, the boat had an uncontrollable water intake that caused its sinking. However, the crew members and the items found were brought to safety and taken to a safe port.

In port, officials of the Technical Investigation Corps (CTI) of the Attorney General's Office carried out the Approved Preliminary Identification Test, confirming 1,440 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride.

Those arrested and the items found were put into custody of the authorities for their respective prosecution process.

Through this result, the Colombian Navy prevented the marketing of more than 3.6 million doses of narcotics in international markets, significantly hitting the finances of drug trafficking organizations.
