Colombian navy seizes more than 600 kilograms of marijuana in central Pacific waters

Armada de Colombia incautó más de 600 kilogramos de marihuana en aguas del Pacífico centro

This result prevented the entry of 6.6 million dollars into the transnational crime organizations.

The Colombian Navy, within the framework of its operation against the transnational crime of drug trafficking, through a combination of resources of the Pacific Coast Guard Group, reported the detection and interception of a ship manned by two Panamanians, who were transporting more than 600 kilograms of marijuana.

Thanks to Naval Intelligence information, an alert was received about the suspicious movement of a ship in the waters of the central Pacific, so a Coast Guard Rapid Reaction Unit was immediately deployed, which moved to the area to search the boat.

After carrying out the maritime interception procedure, it was evident that 18 sacks with more than 687 rectangular packages that, due to their characteristics, resembled illicit substances, were traveling on board the ship. They in the same way found communications equipment.

The personnel and the items found were taken to the Buenaventura Coast Guard Station, where the personnel of the Technical Investigation Corps of the Attorney General's Office, conducted the Approved Preliminary Identification Test, which left positive result for 637 kilograms of marijuana. The arrested individuals and the illegal merchandise were put into custody of the authorities for the due process of prosecution.

Through this confiscation, the entry of 6.6 million dollars into the finances of criminal structures and the commercialization of more than 105 thousand doses of narcotics on the international illegal market were prevented.
