Four Colombians were arrested during the operation.
This result prevented the entry of 25 million dollars to drug trafficking organizations and the marketing of 1.3 million doses of alkaloids on the international illicit market.
The Colombian Navy, within the framework of comprehensive maritime control and security operations in the Colombian Pacific, reported the seizure of more than half a ton of cocaine hydrochloride, which was transported aboard a fishing-type ship, in the waters of the central Pacific.
Thanks to Naval intelligence information, units of the Gorgona Island Coast Guard Station conducted a maritime interception of a suspicious boat. During the operation, four crew members of Colombian nationality and 22 sacks containing 539 packages with characteristics similar to illicit substances were found by troops.
The arrested and the confiscated items were taken to the Coast Guard Station of Tumaco, in the department of Nariño, where officials of the Technical Investigation Corps – CTI- conducted the Approved Preliminary Identification Test, confirming 549.7 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride.
Communications and navigation equipment, allegedly used to transport the illegal cargo, were in the same way seized during the operation.
The illegal merchandise, the boat, the evidentiary items and the arrested were put into custody of the authorities for their respective prosecution process.
This result represents a direct loss to transnational crime and the drug trafficking networks that commit crimes in the Colombian Pacific, weakening their logistical and financial resources.
