Roof tiles for damaged roofs, food kits and drinking water are also part of the humanitarian aid transported.
In a coordinated work conducted by the National Disaster Risk Management Unit (UNGRD) and the Colombian Navy, a scrap compactor was transported by sea from San Andrés to Providencia. This operation was carried out thanks to the logistical support resources of the Amphibious Landing Ship ARC Golfo de Urabá.
This compaction equipment seeks to optimize waste management, since it will support the recycling and volume reduction operation of the tons of electrical, electronic, metal and plastic waste generated after the hurricane Iota.
The compactor, an orange-peel grab and two containers made up the support machinery that were managed by the National Unit for Disaster Risk Management -UNGRD – and are part of the different operations of humanitarian assistance, debris removal, basic care in health and restoration of basic services that are conducted daily in the islands by the State agencies that belong to the National System for Prevention and Assistance of Disasters -SNPAD-.
