The Colombian Aerospace Force informs:
Today, a C-130 Hercules type aircraft with registration FAC 1016, with a crew consisting of 11 members including Officers and Non–Commissioned Officers, took off at 09:54 hours covering the route Puerto Leguízamo - Puerto Asís, in fulfillment of a troop and cargo transport mission, with 110 soldiers of Colombian National Army on board; seconds later it crashed to the ground.
The assistance and reaction protocols were immediately activated, deploying ambulance aircraft and in configuration of mass transfer of patients, arranged with an interdisciplinary team including medical specialists, Pre-hospital Care and researchers of the Colombian Aerospace Force and Colombian National Army.
According to preliminary information, 77 people have been injured so far, some of whom are being treated at medical centers in Puerto Leguizamo and Puerto Asís, in the department of Putumayo. Others will be urgently transferred to Bogota and Florencia, to receive specialized medical assistance. In the same way, air traffic control operations are being carried out in the area, in order to facilitate and speed up the response and assistance tasks.
