In order to support the productive initiatives promoted by the communities of the island, the Caribbean Air Group, GACAR, continues to accompany the coconut palm productive project, an agricultural social enterprise led by the Raizal Farmers Association, through a new activity of adaptation, land maintenance and planting of coconut palms in the La Loma sector in San Andrés.
During the activity, land cleaning, soil preparation and adaptation of spaces for cultivation were carried out, enabling progress in the recovery process of one of the most representative products of the island. In the same way, regular soldiers of the Colombian Aerospace Force worked in a coordinated manner with the people in the planting and maintenance tasks, knowing firsthand the processes of cultivation, care and conservation of palm trees.
The initiative, which includes the planting of 5,000 coconut palms, continues to be consolidated as a strategy to boost local agricultural production, promote the sustainable use of the land and contribute to food security, in addition to generating development opportunities for the families of the archipelago.
Through this type of accompaniment, the Colombian Aerospace Force continues to support the community processes of the raizal communities, contributing to the sustainable development of San Andrés and the conservation of the productive traditions that are part of the identity of the island territory.
