Contundente golpe a la capacidad armada y finanzas de los GAO-r en el primer trimestre de 2026: Quinta División

Contundente golpe a la capacidad armada y finanzas de los GAO-r

Under the leadership of Brigadier General Carlos Ernesto Marmolejo Cumbe, the Fifth Division of Colombian National Army presents a report of the military operation of the first quarter of 2026 with highly powerful results, which evidences a sustained operation that directly hits the war capacity of the organized armed groups, their finances and logistics.

The operation of the military managed to directly hit multiple organizations, through 15 loses of the residual GAO (GAO-r), 9 loses of the Clan del Golfo, 3 loses of the ELN; it was in the same way possible the intervention of more than 20 criminal structures, including networks linked to the Second Marquetalia, hitting their command, control and territorial expansion capacity.

During this period, the troops carried out 61 operations, of which 31 (51%) were aimed at hitting illicit activities, the main source of financing for these criminal structures.

The military operation managed to directly hit the illegal financial system of the armed groups, with high-impact results, such as the confiscation of 17,180 gallons of fuels, 1403 kg of cocaine, 5229 kg of marijuana, 906 kg of solid precursors and 1180 gallons of liquid precursors, a 70% reduction in the production of coca paste base.

These figures reflect an effective strategy of financial asphyxiation, weakening the capacity of criminal structures to sustain and expand.

In terms of loss of military capacity, the results show a significant degradation of the damage power of illegal groups, given that 190 explosive devices were eliminated, as well as 46 anti-personnel mines, 153 kg of explosives, 174 detonators, 77 handguns, a 76% reduction in the availability of ammunition, hitting the criminal logistics that commits crimes in the area of responsibility of the Fifth Division. These results represent a direct blow to the capacity of terrorist action, limiting the execution of attacks against the inhabitants and the Military Forces.

In direct protection of the inhabitants, in the first quarter of 2026, 30 arrests for extortion and kidnapping, and 8 people were rescued; the above shows a greater capacity to respond to crimes that damages citizen freedom and security, and through the regional development of the campaign, #YoNoPagoYoDenuncio.
