In the framework of military operations, it was possible to arrest alias Papo or Pisasuave, alleged ringleader of a group and in charge of extortions in the region.
As a result of the constant operation against the structures of the Western Bloc, troops of the Rapid Deployment Force No. 2, who were carrying out protection tasks for the inhabitants in the village of La Gorgona, municipality of Magüí Payán, in the department of Nariño, engaged a combat against members of the Ariel Aldana Structure.
During this combat it was possible to arrest alias Papo, who was injured and was assisted by the combat nurses and taken to a hospital in Tumaco, and in the same way alias Topo, who was part of alias Papo's security team.
An IM-26 grenade, a 12.20 caliber shotgun, 12 mm cartridges, a high explosive device, 100 units of 5.56 mm caliber linked ammunition, more than 100 units of 9 mm caliber ammunition and war material and military accessories were found by troops at the scene.
With the arrests in the framework of military operations of alias Papo, the illegal financing mechanisms of the Structure are weakened, through the activities derived of the entire drug trafficking chain and illicit exploitation of mining deposits and extortions in the Telembí Triangle region.
Based on intelligence information, it was established that the lifeless body of a member of this structure had been illegally removed of the scene by inhabitants of the region so, for this reason, it was not possible for the Judicial Police to carry out the corresponding urgent acts.
At the moment, military operations aimed at strengthening the security of the inhabitants in this important region of the country are permanent.
