During one of the operations, garments for the exclusive use of the Military Forces, military accessories and medicines from hospitals were found by troops.
The Colombian Navy, through troops of the Military Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group) of Buenaventura, in coordination with members of the Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group) of the National Police, arrived at the Special District of Buenaventura where they made effective a current arrest warrant, issued by the 53rd Sectional Prosecutor's Office of Buenaventura, against an individual known by the alias of Pitbull.
The arrested would be the alleged zone ringleader and criminal head of the Organized Common Criminal Group (GDCO) Los Chiquillos, a structure accused of carrying out various criminal activities in the municipality of Buenaventura. According to Naval Intelligence information, it is presumed that this individual would be responsible for carrying out and coordinating criminal activities related to microtrafficking, collecting money from extortion against merchants, forced disappearances, selective assassinations and criminal intelligence work against the Military Forces.
At the same time, troops of the Navy Infantry Battalion No. 21 and staff of the Judicial Investigation Group - GRUIJ of the National Police, carried out a search warrant to a building in the village La Esperanza, rural area of Buenaventura. In the place it was possible to find a pistol, two improvised explosive devices, magazines and 758 cartridges of different calibers; as well as elements of military accessories alluding to the FARC dissidents, garments for exclusive use by the Military Forces, communications equipment and more than 8,000 hospital medicines, which, apparently, were going to be used to conduct surgeries
According to information of the authorities, it is presumed that these elements belonged to the Residual Organized Armed Group (GAO-r) Jaime Martínez, who have activities in the area and carry out criminal acts attacking the Military Forces and the inhabitants, generating anxiety and fear in the communities.
The arrested individual and found elements were put into custody of the authorities to conduct the relevant procedures.
The Colombian Navy will continue to carry out coordinated operations with the other State Forces, with the purpose of dismantling the criminal organizations that hit security in this strategic region of the country, contributing to the tranquility and well-being of the inhabitants in this region of the country.
