Within the framework of the Ayacucho Plus Joint Campaign Plan, and through joint, coordinated and interagency military operations, troops of the Twenty-Seventh Brigade of Colombian National Army, attached to the Sixth Division, in coordination with the Criminal Investigation Section (Sijín) of the National Police and with the support of the military intelligence of the Naval Force of the Amazonas, reported a high impact result that significantly hits illicit activities in the department of Putumayo, with a damage exceeding 2,800 million pesos.
The operation was carried out in the sector known as Muelle Esmeralda, hamlet Ancura, municipality of Puerto Asís, Putumayo. Thanks to intelligence work and detailed monitoring, on a riverboat was carried out, inside of which an illegal hideout was found containing 895 kilograms of marijuana, equivalent to about 895,000 doses ready to be distributed in national and international illegal markets.
During the procedure, an individual was arrested in flagrante delicto, an alleged member of the residual organized armed group (GAO-r) Comandos de Frontera, a criminal structure specialized in drug trafficking, the armed control of strategic routes and illicit financing through the so-called Equatorial Stock Exchange.
The confiscation of the material found, which would cost approximately 2,800 million pesos, represents a powerful blow to the finances of this criminal organization, reducing its ability to carry out violent operations, recruit minors and strengthen its illegal dominance over the territory. This result, in addition, prevents thousands of doses of marijuana from reaching urban centers, where they feed dynamics of violence, criminality and insecurity that directly disturb the inhabitants.
With operations like this, the Twenty-Seventh Brigade of the Sixth Division of Colombian National Army, with the support of the Naval Force of the Amazonas, ratifies its unwavering commitment in the fight against drug trafficking, illicit activities and organized armed groups that attack the security and tranquility of the inhabitants of Putumayo and the entire Amazon region.
The coordination conducted by the Military Forces, the National Police and the judicial institutions demonstrates the effectiveness of the inter-institutional work to neutralize the sources of criminal financing, progress in the consolidation of the territory and generate conditions of peace, security and sustainable development in the south of the country.
