A woman, member of this illegal armed group was assisted by the troops; he had been injured in the combat. 40 explosive devices, 90 detonators, 20 meters detonating cord and 1 hand grenade were found by troops in the area. The material was destroyed in controlled conditions on the spot.
Troops of the Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group) of the Valle de Aburrá of the Fourth Brigade of Colombian National Army fought against alleged members of the residual organized armed group (GAO-r), Structure 18, in the village of Palo Blanco, municipality of Ituango, Northern subregion of the department of Antioquia.
Alias Tifany, who was injured during the confrontation, was arrested. Immediately, she received assistance of the combat nurse and was evacuated via helicopter to the city of Medellín, where she is currently being assisted by specialized medical personnel.
Two AK-47 rifles, an M16 rifle, bracelets alluding to this illegal group, 4 communications radios, 5 cell phones, 15 magazines, ammunition, military accessories material and more than 100 kilos of explosives were found by troops at the place, which would be used to attack the inhabitants and the Military Forces.
The arrested woman and the material found were put into custody of the authorities for their respective prosecution.
Through these operations, Colombian National Army weakens the logistical and armed resources of the (GAO-r) Structure 18, countering its criminal operations that violate human rights and the norms of international humanitarian law, reaffirming its commitment to the safety, well-being and protection of the life of the communities of the Department of Antioquia.
The troops of the Fourth Brigade will continue to carry out military operations aimed at maintaining stability and combating illegal structures that threaten the tranquility of citizens in this region of the country.
