Decisive operation against exploitation of mining deposits, an activity that destroys the environment

With the dismantling of machinery valued at 2,800 million pesos, the Colombian Air Force, in a coordinated operation with the National Police, the National unit against illegal mining, UNIMIL, and the accompaniment of the Attorney General's Office, achieved a powerful blow against the illegal activity of the exploitation of mining deposits.

As part of the comprehensive strategy against illegal mining, the operation was carried out in nine mining fronts, in the municipalities of Maguí Payan and Roberto Payan, in the Department of Nariño, where it was possible to capture one person and disable nine excavators.

This intervention damages the finances of groups outlaw and gives an opportunity to more than six hectares of land where the waters are polluted causing serious damage to biodiversity and Natural Resources.

The Colombian Air Force, committed to the protection of the environment and the fight against illegal activities, continues resolutely and decisively the fight against illegal mining, carrying out decisive operations jointly, coordinated and inter-agency, to provide, with all its resources, security protecting the future of Colombians.
