Thanks to the joint work that the authorities have been carrying out to weaken the Organized Armed Group, GAO, Clan del Golfo, in the Colombian north, it was possible to establish the identity of two of its members who were arrested, in Ayapel – Córdoba, along with a huge amount of war material that allegedly would be distributed to more members of this group to carry out different crimes such as extortion of money, kidnapping and forced recruitment in the region.
For this mission, the Colombian Air Force deployed different surveillance platforms that significantly contributed to the achievement of this result, which was consolidated by the surface Forces of the National Army and the Police, who gave the two arrested to the Attorney General of the Nation. In total, 39 firearms, 1,363 cartridges, military accessories material, 25 mortar rounds and 2 IM26 grenades were found by troops.
