This would be the main center for the illegal collection of weapons, ammunition and explosives, and would be used by the so called Coordinadora Nacional Ejército Bolivariano – Segunda Marquetalia, Diomer Cortés Structure, as a strategic point of criminal distribution to the departments of Valle del Cauca, Cauca department and Nariño.
Within the framework of sustained military operations against the organized armed groups that commit crimes in the southwest of the country, troops of the Rapid Deployment Force No. 4, of the Third Division of Colombian National Army, reported an important result against the terrorist resources of the Coordinadora Nacional Ejército Bolivariano – Segunda Marquetalia.
The operation was carried out in the village of El Sinai, department of Cauca, where, thanks to a coordinated work with the National Police, it was possible to find the illegal mega-hiding place belonging to the Diomer Cortés Structure, a group at the service of alias Diomedes or Chichico.
After more than four hours of heavy fighting assisted by artillery and aviation resources of Colombian National Army, it was possible to reach the main collection center containing explosives, weapons and ammunition, elements that would be used to carry out terrorist acts against the Military Forces and the inhabitants in the southwest of the country.
12 rifles were seized at the site, including a grenade launcher rifle, 2986 cartridges of different calibers, 4 handguns, 42 magazines, 4 grenades, drones, technological equipment, communications elements and military accessories. These items were put into custody of the authorities.
This important military operation was possible thanks to the inter-institutional coordination conducted by Colombian National Army, the National Police and the support and specialized resources of the Colombian Aerospace Force, which managed to carry out the first strategic strike against this terrorist group in the last six months, directly hitting the logistical and armament resources of the Diomer Cortés Structure, of the organized armed group Coordinadora Nacional Ejército Bolivariano – Segunda Marquetalia, preventing their criminal intentions of those attackers who sought to generate anxiety and hit security in this important region of the country.
