Ten young Colombians, from different regions, were awarded scholarships to continue their technical and professional training, thanks to a strategic alliance conducted by the GE Foundation, the HEINSOHN company and Colombian National Army's Humanitarian Demining Engineer Brigade.
This initiative aims to provide real opportunities to students with high academic potential who face economic or social limitations to access higher education.
Colonel Edward Cardozo Osorio, commander of the Humanitarian Demining Engineer Brigade, highlighted the commitment of the demining soldiers in the management of this program: "This effort, which seeks to promote education and opportunities for new generations, has been made possible thanks to the coordinated work conducted by the GE Foundation, the HEINSOHN company and units in the territory. The awarding of these scholarships reflects the commitment of Colombian National Army to the well-being of communities hit by the contamination of explosive devices, and also to the construction of a hopeful future for youth."
For her part, Alejandra Gómez, representative of the GE Foundation, highlighted the importance of these alliances to generate a sustainable impact on vulnerable communities: "Thanks to this coordination we have been able to grant scholarships in technical labor programs in areas such as administrative and accounting systems, which leads young people to improve their quality of life and access greater opportunities."
One of these testimonies is that of Mariana Ñañez, a beneficiary living in Palmira, Valle del Cauca, who expressed her gratitude: "Today I am the beneficiary of a scholarship in systems awarded by HEINSOHN, which helps me to continue with my studies and build a better future."
Through initiatives like this, pathways are being opened towards regional development, promoting access to quality education and working on strengthening the social fabric in areas impacted by the conflict.
