In the department of Caquetá, illegal hiding place with war material dismantled

En Caquetá, desmantelado depósito ilegal con material de guerra

Nine anti-personnel mines and two containers for improvised explosive devices were defused at the site.

During joint and coordinated operations conducted by the Colombian Navy, Colombian National Army and the National Police, it was possible to find an illegal hiding place with war material, explosives and criminal propaganda, in the village Las Marimbas in the municipality of Cartagena del Chairá – Caquetá.

The procedure was made possible, thanks to information provided by the Amazonas Fusion Center, which led the troops of the Navy Infantry River Battalion No. 31 and of Colombian National Army, as well as National Police personnel, to arrive at the site, finding 645 7.62 mm caliber cartridges and a placard with criminal propaganda.

In the same way, at the site, a group of the Colombian Navy's Explosives and Demining Teams – EXDE, defused nine anti-personnel mines and two containers for improvised explosive devices.

It should be noted that this material apparently belonged to the Residual Organized Armed Group - GAO-r, Rodrigo Cadete front, Jorge Suárez Briceño Bloc and was hidden, covered by undergrowth and vegetation on the Caguán River. These elements were put into custody of the authorities to continue with the relevant procedures.

Through this finding, it was possible to directly damage the logistical resources of this organized armed group, which violates Human Rights and International Humanitarian Law, preventing the use of war material and explosives, against the inhabitants and military in the region.
