This finding in the same way prevented the marketing of more than 1.7 million doses of narcotics on the streets of the world.
In a powerful operation against the transnational crime of drug trafficking, the Colombian Navy, carried out in the waters of the Chocó Pacific region, the maritime interception of a ship manned by three individuals of Colombian nationality, who were transporting more than half a ton of cocaine hydrochloride, heading towards Central America.
The operation was carried out 60 nautical miles of the municipality of Bahía Solano, in the department of Chocó, when a Rapid Reaction Unit - URR, of the Bahía Solano Coast Guard Station, with the support of an aircraft of the Interagency Joint Task Force of the Southern Command of the United States – JIATFS, detected a ship sailing suspiciously, in waters adjacent to the department of Chocó.
The individuals, noticing the military activity, would have left 37 sacks of different shapes and sizes in the water, which, due to their characteristics and packaging, would resemble illicit substances. The packages were later recovered by the staff of the Naval Institution.
In the same way, during the procedure, 10 barrels were found by troops; their particularities and smell, would indicated to be fuel.
The three individuals and the material found were taken to the Coast Guard Station of Bahía Solano, where officials of the Technical Investigation Corps - CTI (Technical Investigations Corps) of the Attorney General's Office, conducted the Approved Preliminary Identification Test - PIPH, determining that it was 717 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride, as well as 55 gallons of fuel.
The individuals and the material found were put into custody of the authorities for their respective prosecution process.
Through this operation, the Naval Institution prevented more than 34 million dollars from entering the drug trafficking organizations that commit crimes in the Colombian Pacific, in the same way, more than 1.7 million doses of narcotics were stopped from being marketed on the streets of the world.
