The Colombian Navy carried out the evacuation of two minors of the indigenous people of Santa María de Pangalá, in the village of Palestina, municipality of the Litoral San Juan - department of Chocó, who apparently had symptoms of dehydration and malnutrition.
Once the communication was received by the Ministry of Health of the municipality of Docordó in the department of Chocó, which informed about the medical condition of the children and requested the urgent evacuation to a more complex medical center, the minors were taken from Palestina to Docordó on a boat, but due to the adverse weather conditions in the area, an aircraft of the Pacific Naval Air Group with medical personnel of the Bahía Málaga Level I Dispensary was sent to transport them to the Special District of Buenaventura - Valle del Cauca.
At the scene, an ambulance coordinated with the Emergency Regulatory Center - CRUE of Buenaventura, took the children aged four months and one year, along with their relatives, to the Luis Ablanque District Hospital of La Plata, where they received specialized medical assistance.
So far this year, Colombian sailors have rescued and evacuated 34 people who have faced emergencies at sea.
The Colombian Navy reiterates its commitment to the protection and well-being of communities, with its logistical and human resources to provide support in emergencies and preserve life in this region of the country.
