The fuel would cost more than 262 million pesos.
These fuels, transported illegally in this region, are usually used to supply aircraft on clandestine runways linked to drug trafficking.
Within the framework of river operations, carried out by the Colombian Navy, with the support of the Colombian Aerospace Force, it was possible to find more than ten thousand gallons of illegal aviation fuel, Jet A-1 type, when they were transported by two individuals in a boat, over the waters of the Meta River, near the village of Nueva Antioquia, department of Vichada.
The successful operation was made possible, thanks to valuable information supplied by Naval Intelligence, which led the troops of the Navy Infantry River Battalion No. 51, during a search and control procedure, to the interception of the suspect boat.
When making the visit on the ship, it was found that it had on board a tanker tractor-trailer loaded with aviation fuel, which did not have the necessary documents for its transportation.
Once this material was found, specialized technical personnel of the Aerospace Force carried out preliminary tests on the content, determining that it was 10,500 gallons of Jet fuel type A-1, that would cost approximately 262,500,000 million Colombian pesos. The two individuals and the confiscated fuel, were put into custody of the authorities.
