Within the framework of territorial control operations and the frontal fight against drug trafficking, troops of the Light Infantry Battalion No. 27 Magdalena, of the Ninth Brigade, in coordination with the National Police, found 215 kilograms of narcotics in the village of El Cedro in the municipality of Pitalito, on the road axis that connects to Mocoa.
The events were reported during search and control activities, when the soldiers made the stop signal to a vehicle, whose driver ignored and started to escape.
Immediately, the Padlock plan was activated and thanks to the timely information provided by the Civic Participation Network, the occupants of a suspicious vehicle began leaving packages on the roadside. The coordinated action conducted by soldiers and police officers managed to check the sector and find 215 rectangular packages with the illicit substance.
Through this operation, a loss of nearly 300 million pesos to the illicit finances of drug trafficking was possible, significantly weakening its logistical and criminal structure. Similarly, 215,000 doses of marijuana were prevented from reaching the streets, especially protecting children and young people, who are the main victims of the problem of microtrafficking and the consumption of psychoactive substances.
The Ninth Brigade of Colombian National Army reiterates its commitment to security, the control of the territory and the protection of the inhabitants, highlighting that it is precisely the sustained pressure, the permanent deployment of the troops and the coordinated work with the people and the National Police that forces criminal organizations to flee and abandon their shipments.
